Single axle or tandem?
A single axle 6x12 is lighter, cheaper, and easier to back up by hand. It is a great fit for weekend use and light trade work.
Go tandem if you will carry heavy tools daily or tow at highway speed for long stretches. The second axle adds stability and a spare set of tires to share the load, and many tandems include brakes.
